Moorhen

Very newly hatched chicks; their feet are bigger than their wing stubs and their heads ..

A Library morning; went over to Causewayside to the Maps building, by no 9 bus past the crowds on the bridges. Useful meetings and conversation. Stopped in George Square on the way back for a small sample of fringe people watching, then a no 9 bus again once the crowding on the pavements got too annoying to walk through.

Afternoon walk to Inverleith; we found the moorhen and her chicks, then counted tufted ducklings; all 6 present. Swans and goslings also in evidence. Watched dogs in the park, returned via the Botanics.
