Old Clay Pipe

I found this old clay pipe in our garden. It dates from well before the house was built. Two farms were once located close to our house  and there are old photographs showing that vegetables were grown on the south facing slope here for sale in the local markets. Although I will never know for sure, it seems likely that the pipe would have been used by someone working on the land. Perhaps the farmer or a farm labourer. After giving it a quick wash this evening, I took this image against a black background to showcase it.
