When the lights go out

After a lot of hard work building up to it, go-live with our new Roche cobas analysers was scheduled for today. Thanks to some idiosyncrasies of the All Wales computer system, switch over had to happen at midnight.

I drew the short straw to be onsite to do the testing once all the changeovers had been confirmed. So, after a full day at work I was back in just after 11o'clock to make sure nothing went awry. Thankfully everything went as expected with only minor issues that were easily sorted. Even so, I was onsite for about 4 hours before heading home.

It did remind me that I don't miss the night shifts.....
