Caught the CHA coach to Pateley Bridge to walk alongside the River Nidd then various paths taken to join the Nidderdale Way - followed Ashfoldside Beck to the Merryfield mining area - a prosperous lead mine in the 18th and 19th Centuries - espied extensive remains of the spoil heap and smelt mill - returning back to Pateley Bridge along the Nidderdale Way to Pateley Bridge for refreshments - mine was a lager
