Peninsula Light

Peacock butterfly. Loads of them feeding on a neighbour's Buddleia, and then resting and sunning themselves in my garden. Very flighty when not feeding. Slowly crawled up across the grass to catch this one... the things we do for a Blip!

A small wasp of some sort in the heavily cropped extra. I was cutting up the rotting trunk of a storm damaged Rowan tree with a bow saw, when a couple of these little wasps started investigating the fractured end of it.

(Edit: after a wee bit of research, the wasp may be Crossocerus binotatus but I'll have to get in touch with Jimmy, a local expert, or at least he'll know who will be able to identify it.)
