Moon Viewing House

A visit to Hakone Gardens in Saratoga.  It’s compact and vertical, lots of uneven and steep terrain, but well marked and good handrails in some areas.  It has a small bamboo ‘forest’ which was rather nice.  Lots of shade everywhere which helped with the heat of the afternoon (90ºF).  The koi in the pond are accustomed to being fed by visitors - the gift store was all out of their food - and come swimming towards a person, expectantly, when one approaches the pond.

Glad I put on long sleeves and had my hat.  We had the place almost to ourselves.
