Tomatoes come in a variety of colours, including; red, yellow, pink, purple, black and white.
There are over 15,000 varieties of tomato.
Tomatoes are a fruit. 
However, in the 1890s the US Supreme Court named it a vegetable for taxation purposes. 
The first tomatoes were considered an aphrodisiac. They were originally known as; 
golden apples or love apples. 
China is the largest producer of tomatoes. 
The Guinness World Record for “most tomatoes harvested from a single plant over one year” was 32,194 tomatoes harvested between May 2005 and April 2006.
Tomatoes are good for heart health.
The word tomato comes from the Spanish word tomate, which itself came from the ancient Aztec language, word tomatl.  The Aztec name translated to “Plump thing with a navel.”
