Craig, Sid and the Massive Football

Today's the day ..................... for the Grand Parade

The weather forecast for last night and this morning were dire, including as they did, a named storm - but miraculously, by the time we got to 2.15pm it had turned into a lovely sunny afternoon.  Just as well, because that was when Kirkcudbright's Grand Parade set off along the main streets of town to finish up in the Harbour Square.

I was on one end of the banner promoting the Saints Walking Football and behind were some of the players including Craig and his very large friend, Sid.  Sid was an excellent kicker of his very large football - which had to be retrieved fairly often from the crowds that lined the route.  It was all lots of fun to be the centre of attention for a while!

The thing that really put a spring in our step though, was the fact that the float behind us belonged to the Samba Sisters (see extra).  They are absolutely wonderful - and it's impossible not to move with the beat when they are in action.  And, of course, I knew that blipper greengirl would be one of them.  We've never actually met but I have followed her journal for many a year and I'm a huge admirer of all the things that she gets up to.

So it was a chance to meet, albeit briefly, and be part of the same local summer entertainment ..........................
