Shelly and Friend Josh

I went with Shelly to synagogue this morning, something I rarely do. It was the rabbi’s son’s Bar Mitzvah. I wanted to go to show my respect and support of the rabbi. And of Shelly’s religious life. I am not Jewish. Nor am I Christian though my parents were Protestants, one Episcopal, the other Presbyterian. Our family did not attend church. I did join my best friend’s family attending a Congregational church when I was in junior high school. Since then I’ve chosen a humanist spiritual path. Both Shelly and I accept and respect each other’s spiritual choice. I like that about us.
