Bald-faced Hornet

This is a hornet that - with its cohorts - makes a big paper football (piñata?) sized nest - often hanging from a tree limb. They can be very scary because they aggressively defend their nest. This one was sitting on a hosta leaf and not being the least bit threatening. I guess we should maybe be on the look out for a nest somewhere around the place.
