Stuff and Nonsense

Red Spotted Plant Bug

After watching the Lionesses battle valiantly against Spain in the World Cup Final, (where they sadly lost 1-0) we took a little walk around Pickerings as we needed to stretch our legs. Not a great deal about, but whilst looking around the area where we saw the shield bugs last time, I spotted this teeny tiny little bug. I think it is a Deraeocoris Ruber, the red spotted plant bug. It was only about 5mm and just sitting there, but I liked the colours on its shiny back.

This afternoon we have been watching more of the World Athletics Championships. We are doing well so far with the mixed relay picking up a silver yesterday, Zarnel Hughes getting bronze in the 100m and Katarina Johnson Thompson winning GOLD in the heptathlon. After a difficult start to her campaign yesterday in the hurdles, she finished on a high winning the final event of the day. She started well this morning winning the hurdles and getting a PB in the long jump, and then finished  second in the 800m which was enough to win the top prize - Well done KJT!!!
