Creeping buttercups

A carpet of buttercups make for a vivid and cheerful path in the lawn in the garden. But the true name for these is creeping buttercups, and they are hardy weed, if one of the prettiest ones. Apparently the seeds can survive for up to 20 years, and even 80 year old seeds have been germinated. The plant is tasty to sheep and cattle, but can give them 'the runs'... Not a problem in the garden here, where they just brighten up a little corner.

NB, the info came from gardenorganic.org.uk which has page about buttercups if you want to see more.
