Getting the thatch done. The job really needed doing but it hadn't leaked so we avoided what villagers call the "tarpaulin of shame" when a thatch is too far gone and springs a leak. The chaps doing this are Plymouth Brethren, a sect that, in spite of its name, was founded in Dublin.
