Common Darters

These are not good photos, but they act as reminders of the dragonflies fluttering around. I was sitting outside our lodge reading, but they and gatekeeper butterflies kept distracting me. The common darters (Sympetrum striolatum) seemed attracted to bushes of burdock in grassed areas between the trees. Lots of squirrels, too! (I think the dragons are female and male respectively - noting the slight colour variation.)

The children are having a wonderful time. And it's a joy to be together in these nature-filled surroundings.
