No oysters here

I photographed this Pied Oystercatcher today on Seven Mile Beach. It was taking a break from catching oysters at the time, resting way up on the beach, away from the water. I notice that it has a prominent leg band. Should I be contacting someone to report that "K7 has come in from the cold"?

I wondered if this bird was looking for a nest site. I read that, for Pied Oystercatchers, nesting takes place on sand, shell grit or shingle just above high water mark on beaches, sandbars, margins of estuaries and lagoons (Australian Museum). This would not be a good place to nest - it's on a busy beach with lots of people around.
