Kittiwakes

I had a nice cycle around Westray. Tide was wrong for Start Point in the NE so I headed, for a change to the NW, the Holms of Ire and then to Lady village and Cata Sands I saw and photographed lots of birds, but mainly at a distance and the photos were really just record shots. Migrants are coming through on their way south- loads of red knot, bar-tailed godwits, greylag geese etc. I also saw the long-billed dowitcher (an American wader) again at Cleat and there were two ruff and a greenshank there too. A grey plover as well as golden plovers around. Two short-eared owls hunting at a distance. Ravens are gathering and I saw a flock of thirty. The extra is a red knot.
