Nontron

Mr Sk and I went for a little jaunt today, the original plan being to have lunch in Brantome but in the end we decided to drive a bit further and explore the town of Nontron.  The town is built on top of a hill and this is part of the town's 13th century battlements. The town is famous for its tradition of making cutlery, in particular the Nontron knife which specialists agree is the oldest knife in France dating back at least to the 15th century. Mr Sk can just be seen walking towards the workshop and exbibition about knives.

It is still pretty hot (98 degrees Fahrenheit) but we are told the weather will break this evening and it will then start to get a bit cooler.  Fingers crossed!
