Today's insect

Are caterpillars insects?
This one was crawling across kitchen floor. So I carefully put it outside. An hour or so later, it was there again crawling across the kitchen floor. Difficult to imagine it climbing over the step and threshold.

Warm sunshine and I lingered outside over breakfast.

Did nothing else as rather tired and depressed. Seem to be getting nowhere with the house and making any progress.
