Coastal walk

We both had a good sleep so felt ready for a trip out along the coast this morning. Jenny drove us to St Monans, (blipped) where we parked and set off up to the church. We wanted to see the grave of a Uni friend Marilyn Runcie but had no luck. The church was locked so we weren’t able to go in and see where Johnny Cash once sang.

It was so sunny and hot so we boiled as we walked along to Pittenweem. Many years ago (25? 30?) I used to stay in a little flat by the sea with an artist friend. We had a few painting holidays there and enjoyed the arts festival where I bought a few paintings. The village is very gentrified now and seems to consist of lots of holiday homes, AirBNB etc.

We were pleased to see the sea pools at St Monans and Pittenweem were now back in action.

At St Monans we went to Craigmiller on West Shore for a delicious late lunch. There was no veggie option and it was a fixed price 3 course menu so I had the fish.
Sea trout, miso caramel, parsley and oyster dressing, radish, passion fruit and puffed wild rice
Halibut, Arbroath Smoky Sauce, peas, endame beans, girolle mushrooms
Panacotta, summer berries and fruit sorbet

All very yummy. £37 - a lovely treat at the end of my visit

I head back over the bridge on the train then have an hour at Waverley before getting the train south, due to get home after 9, when I’ll have to pack again for an early start with the van to Beyond Borders festival tomorrow.
