Light entertainment

Honeysuckle

Climbing enthusiastically on the lamp post in front of St Cuthbert's steeple.

Walked through Princes St gardens to the College of Art to a Library event at the Book Festival; coffee and conversation (not 'brunch' as pre-described) with other people interested in development of the Library. Liz Lochhead showed up briefly, on elbow crutches (she's had a new hip).

The event included Liz's poetry reading in the main auditorium which was very well done. Some new poems, commentary about why and when they were written, some well known pieces, some wishes for a revival of her play, Medea. The transcription system putting up sub titles turned into part of the entertainment, watching to see what it made of her 'vigorous speech idioms' . That hall is cramped .. seats built for slim students .. was rubbing shoulders with a large man on my right who left before the end.

Conveniently, the very heavy shower which drooked the city was over by the time we got out; walked back by Waverley, which was busy but not crammed.

Late walk around the Town in the evening.
