decorated wood

Painted gourds and a pair of  Asturian clogs, decorating the outside of an hórreo. I´ve referred to them as clogs, but in fact they´re Asturian madreñas. The difference is the large cleats on the sole, which can be seen in the photo, and which are helpful in dealing with puddles and rough ground. The norm is to buy them oversized and wear a pair of bedroom slippers inside them - and the madreñas can then be discarded so you can wander round houses, bars, shops, whatever, in your slippers.
These are on the ledge of an hórreo, a grain-store on stilts, which are very often decorated.
