Ireland Day 1

Relatively early up to get to the port for the ferry crossing from Holyhead to Dublin. Gentle crossing although the restaurant service was very slow.
Found our way out of Dublin OK and headed west - motorways so quiet!

We set off to find one of our ruins of an Abbey (helped by the signpost in extra) and a friendly farmer. First abbey established 9th century but this particular building 12th century. Later burials show usage into 19th century. Nearby - info from farmer - was an old peat bog, still used a bit with 'plots' for sale, although I doubt many people use peat as their prime source of fuel. So we went to look. Interesting.

Now parked by a lake for the night with about eight other motorhomes. It's quiet and there's a pub nearby where we hope to have dinner.

Tomorrow to Ennis, where plans are to meet up with fellow blipper Veronica49!
