On our morning walk

Poor Tommy was so ill yesterday after lunch, he vomited all afternoon and into the evening and was dripping with sweat from his temperature - due to his violent symptoms we were almost convinced that he was suffering from E.Coli but thankfully this morning he felt much better, he was able to eat some toast and drink water without throwing up. He had swum in the sea in Durban where E.Coli was not prevalent, yet it was present further up the coast so I suppose there was always the risk that it could get washed down the coastline.

Today is my birthday and it was a quiet and normal day other than getting lots of lovely messages and phone calls, including two calls from my great nephew in SA and great niece in the UK to sing happy birthday to me! We celebrated yesterday so I did not need to celebrate again today. If Tommy was feeling 100% we would have gone out for a coffee or something but I did not mind that we could not do that.

The panel in our upstairs glass balustrade that shattered before we went on holiday needs to be replaced, and so today someone from a glass balustrade company came to see about replacing it. It is a big job as they have to take off the wooden railing that sits on the entire balustrade, and then remove the panel and replace it. He said it looks like it is about to fully drop out which would be disastrous, so as it is an 'emergency' they have ordered the new panel and will try to do the job as soon as possible. It's a very costly repair as we expected.

Xena has not featured in my journal for a while so here she is on our morning walk today. The hedgerows are full of blackberries and it is starting to feel autumnal, as the sunshine lacks the heat of summer.
