Korean Fir ( Abies koreana )

Another quiet day round home and the garden.  The cone on this Korean Fir caught my eye.  The plant began as a Christmas tree a number of years ago.  When it got too big to carry it stayed in the garden as a sort of large bonsia.

Korean Fir produce cones when they are fairly small, even if not bonsia.  When not bonsia they start to produce cones when somewhere between 1m and 2m in height.  Cones can be up to 7cm long this one is about 2cm.
