Alpine Bobsled

We left the hotel right at 10 a.m. checkout. We went to Target first because Jill forgot her computer charging cable. Then we went back to Six Flags Great Escape, which opened at 11.

We were there for rope drop. Yesterday we were told Alpine Bobsled didn't open until 12:30, so we got a few rides on Comet. It's so good. We got food and wandered a little before going to Alpine Bobsled just before 12:30.

There was an employee waiting at the entrance, but the gate was closed. She told us maintenance was working on getting it open. The sky was mostly clear, so we didn't expect it to be down for weather like yesterday.

I met a fellow coaster enthusiast I know from Instagram, and we hung out while we waited for the coaster to open. We heard it testing occasionally. We heard the drive tires running and brakes opening and closing, which were good signs. After over three hours of waiting, the ride opened!

We got on the first train of the day. It was really fun! It's whippy and gives some airtime in the quick transitions. We liked it so much, we went to the entrance to ride again. It broke down while we were in the station. It reopened shortly, and we got our second ride. It's a nice coaster, and it's too bad it's unreliable and will be closing.

While walking around the park, a manager who saw us earlier while we were waiting talked to us. He gave us passes to skip the lines. They were good on most rides except Adirondack Outlaw (see extra). But he was nice and wrote on the back that we could use the passes to ride it.

Jill rode it yesterday and loved it. I was intimidated, plus I hadn't eaten, so I skipped it. I was feeling better today, and Jill persuaded me to ride. Worth it! It's really fun! And it was nice not having to wait in line.

We left after that and started on the eight-plus-hour drive home. Phew. It was exhausting but a nice trip overall. I've now ridden 401 roller coasters, and Jill's ridden around 355.
