Heading Out

A bit of excitement today, as I'd got a place on a long-awaited trip on the Isabella Fortuna, the museum's fishing boat.  Not the best weather, as it was overcast and chilly.  I  learned some local bird names from some of the crew.  Scorrie I knew, but what I didn't know is that it refers to immature gulls.  Scarfie is cormorant, and solan goose is gannet.
We went as far as Noss Head, then turned around.  Soon after this I was told it was my turn to steer, which I did for about 20 minutes, until we got to the harbour entrance, when the pros took over.
DH picked me up, and we drove up to Camster Cairns, where the heather was in full bloom.
