Mad March Hare

In sunny Aberdeen today for some shopping and chores.  Caught up with this very colourful hare in the city centre.

It is the ‘Mad March Hare’ which was designed by Cat MacKenzie. She painted it to replicate the vintage feel of the etchings made by John Tenniel, the earliest  illustrator of ‘Alice of Wonderland’.  The design was inspired by a visit Cat made to the V&A’s celebration of Lewis Carroll’s work.

Cat is a Scottish 3D artist and was thrilled to be included in ‘The Big Hop Trail’ for Clan Cancer Support.  She works as a bespoke milliner and headdress maker.  She also creates mixed media 3D papier-mâché models for online galleries.

The ‘Mad March Hare’ sits at the foot of a very colourful set of steps. The extras show the detail of the design on the back of the hare’s red jacket and also a close-up of its head.

As you can see Cat is one very talented artist!
