The bottom of the walnut whip

This is the base of a structure which is relatively new in Edinburgh. It's the bottom of some architecture around a new hotel that was built on the site of a very old shopping centre.
In polite society the top of the structure is known as a walnut whip.
In impolite society it's known as something much worse. However, I never knew it did this at its base until yesterday. I think it's a nice touch.
