Sgwarnog: In the Field

Big!

@Squatbetty has kindly invited me to host the Love Blippin’ Books challenge for September which will be #LBB9.

To join in all you need to do is to select a book relevant to the month’s theme, and blip about it at some point during the month, or later.

This month’s theme will be Big Books are Brilliant!

Love BlippinBooks for September
September prompt: Big Books are Brilliant!
September tag: LBB9

The LBB themes are meant to be accessible and inclusive, so feel free to interpret as you see fit, but as you can see from today’s image my suggestion is to choose a large format book. This is a wide open field that includes photography books, encyclopedias, manuals, art books, annuals, graphic novels, atlases, coffee table books, cartoon collections, Asterix & Tintin, craft books, collectables catalogues, children’s books and on and on. I have rounded up a few from my collection here.

Should you not have any big books easily at hand (and they are often the first victims of any shelf thinning and decluttering) then you might: borrow one from a neighbour; visit a library; or pop along to a local charity shop or thrift store where you can rescue a beautiful bargain big book from their dusty limbo land.

As these are big books, don’t feel you have to read it all the way through, big books are often designed to be browsed. My own response will likely include Ian Beesley’s Life, the open photo book at the front, which I recently supported through a crowd funder.

And don’t forget all of the previous month’s challenges are still open for contributions. Please join in if you share our love of books.
