Venice

A whole day in Venice is a tiring day. To go from Piazzola Roma where we had parked via the Rialto bridge to get to San Marco square and two women even more cozy streets to come in very close in tow and all those cozy little shops car then you thick 3 1/2 hours to . Phew .....

Venice a city to fall in love!
Venice is known worldwide for its historic downtown with its many canals and has played an important role in world history. Since 1987 Venice and its lagoon are on the World Heritage List of UNESCO.

Where the name "Venice" actually comes from is unclear, but it is in any way connected with the people of the Veneti. A connection with the Latin verb venire (come) or (Slo) venië seem unlikely. There may be a connection with the Latin word venetus that "sea blue" means. Venice nicknames include "City of Water", "City of Bridges", and Dominant La La Serenissima.

Venice is a group of small islands in the middle of a lagoon (= the Laguna Veneta) that was mentioned. During the time of the Roman Empire Venetia People lived there for centuries, but the first major settlements came only as a result of the influx of refugees after the invasions of Attila around 453 and the Lombards in 568.

Venice has too many striking buildings and many important artworks to mention them all here, but here is still a small selection:

The Basilica of San Marco,
The Palazzo Ducale
The Piazza San Marco Basilica
The Clock Tower, built between 1496 and 1499 by Mauro Codussi as a marvel of engineering.
The Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari
The San Zaccaria Church
The Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute
The Fondaco dei Tedeschi
The Scuola Grande di San Rocco
In the Ghetto, the Jewish Quarter, there are still five synagogues.
The Riva degli Schiavoni, the quay along the Canale di San Marco
The Bacino Orseolo
The Biblioteca Marciana

Everywhere ofcourse I had to use as a blip but I was looking for something striking to where you immediately recognize that this is Venice.
That's why I chose a shot of the Grand Canal with the Rialto Bridge in the background and in the foreground two dressed in typical Venetian gondola gestation irish you continuously harass if you want to make Gondola ride.
