Head Scratcher

What's silly about this photo is that although I know it's a Queen Anne's lace flower going to seed, I don't know what's in the center. I think it's a spider. Well, it's almost certainly a spider - but not the usual crab spider waiting for an unwary pollinator. It looks more like an orb weaver of some sort. Is it alive? Dunno! What's it doing? Dunno!

We leave for our annual beach trip tomorrow morning. I'll be blipping from Chincoteague tomorrow!
