An Post

This postbox has hung outside my grandparents' house for as long as I can remember. Now moulded and mildewed, it bears the words 'An Post', the Irish for 'The Post', carved in old Gaelic script by my grandfather's hand.

Seeing it reminds me of how the postal system in the Gaza Strip is almost non-existent. Items are often held for long periods by both the Israeli and the Palestinian authorities, and may never arrive at their destination.
