Seeds of flowers that volunteered in the garden

On a late afternoon walk down the garden I saw this plant beginning to flower with a floating seed capsule having flown onto it. The purple flower in the background also seems to have self seeded. It may be the same plant and is what these buds will unfurl into. I've no idea what any of them are called.
