I walked from the top of Tobins Track, but without Missy as dogs aren’t allowed. The scenery was amazing, with uninterrupted views over the Whakatipu Basin. It’s massive. That’s the Remarkable Mountains on the left, and they’re looking relatively small in that image. I’ve often wanted to go up there and am really pleased that I have at last.
It’s much more of a rugged mountain than it looks from below, and was quite a grunt going to the top, with frosty ground thrown into the mix. I was glad of my walking poles!
