Wanderings & Witterings

Boat

Met some former work colleagues in Glasgow for lunch (the first Monday of every month seems to come round very quickly these days!) and decided to get off the home-bound bus several stops from where I usually get off.

The weather was really glorious, so a wee detour along the Canal was called for. Passing one lock I saw some Scottish Canals workers cranking open one lock gate and a few moments later they sped past me on their bikes to do the same at the next lock.

At Underwood, I saw the reason why: a Canal boat was making its way westbound. Locks 19 and 18 had been readied and now they were guiding the boat as it made its entrance to Lock 17. It was a warm day for opening and closing lock gates, but a fortuitous one for this Blipper.
