Always emotional when the house goes quiet after the summer holidays. Today it didn’t go quiet - the noise just changed from children to builders. Our bedroom is currently looking like a dust pit - thank goodness we don’t have to sleep in it!

Gratefuls:

1. Eve unfurling as we drove out and telling me all of the good, the bad and the ugly about school on day 2. The fear of standing alone in the playground, the bemusement at y9 girls having skirts so short you can see their knickers on the stairs (that one made me laugh) and the golden moment when someone smiles at your joke;
2. Isaac finally going to sleep after we set him up a bed near us in the cellar;
3. Getting a horrible job done at work.
