A brief encounter

On returning from the wee car's MOT inspection I discovered Barbara and Marion (from left to right) taking rather more interest in our house than is normal for passers-by. Because of its name they thought it was the original village school. Clearly not from around these parts – they are from Mürzzuschlag in Austria – I gave them a brief history of the village school and our house, the best way to travel to Edinburgh from KInghorn and some dodgy advice on which is the best whisky to order in a pub.

A cultural exchange of photographs was taken before we waved goodbye to them, thankful that their command of English was 100 percent better than my German language skills
