Boston to Ogunquit

Back blip for yesterday

It was a stressful start to our holiday. We turned up at the airport to collect our car to find it didn't have sat nav. Call me unadventurous but, if I am touring in a foreign country, then I need all the help I can get. Three cars later the attendants finally found one with a moving map.

We proceeded to the exit only to find we were unable to leave as our joint credit card had been declined.  After much discussion we used my personal card and the barrier lifted. Mr Flossmo then had a devil of a time trying to get used to the gadgetry on the BMW X5 hybrid car. It was like going back to car nursery school.

We made our way gingerly out of Boston and up the coast and stopped for a much needed coffee and a quick perusal of the car manual. We then carried on north and made the planned stop at the airfield cafe at Hampton for a rather pleasant lunch surrounded by model aircraft hanging from the ceiling on a moving conveyor (see extra).

After that we drove on up the 1 eventually arriving in Ogunquit late afternoon after a couple of shopping stops. The weather here is very hot and humid, apparently what would normally be expected in July and August.

We checked into our small apartment cranked up the air conditioning and hooked onto the wi-fi. Mr Flossmo opened his email to find half a dozen messages saying we had breached our credit card limit. On checking it seemed that over a £1000 had been debited multiple times from our account. We tried ringing the car rental company but the offices were closed for the day. It wasn’t a restful night.
