Monasteries and More

Strictly speaking it was an Abbey and then a Priory - it depended on their founders and religious order! Moyne Abbey was stunning - in perfect condition apart from no roof or windows! Fantastic cloisters and you could almost see the monks busy at their work! Superbly crafted pillars and other decorative detail in the Abbey and also the Priory; I have indulged in a flora extra with these little harebell growing on top of an Abbey wall. Also a wrecked boat in the harbour at Killala where we paused to visit their very tall round tower.

Now alongside a rocky beach with fossils and enormous scattered 'stones' - I hate to have seen the heavy sea that deposited those!
