Bedroom At Spains Field Farm

Another visit to Beamish Museum where the Autumn Transport Fair was taking place.  We called in at Spain's Field Farm.  Initially the farm was in Weardale and was built in the 1700's.  It was dismantled brick by brick and brought to the museum where it was rebuilt and it has been preserved as a 1950's farm.  I think it would have been tough living on the farm - even in the 1950's it had no modern amenities such as a bathroom and water had had to be collected from a nearby spring.

There was a lady and gentlemen sitting in the living room of the farm dressed in the outfits of the period (probably some of the wonderful volunteers).  They were debating if they should light the fire.  I couldn't believe that they were going to light the fire on such a hot day until the lady pointed out to me that if they wanted a cup of tea that was the only way to heat the water,

My main photo shows a bedroom in the farm (complete with potty) and I have attached a few extra photos from my visit:

1)  Spain's Field Farm
2)  Flowers growing at the farm
3)   A fireplace at the farm
4)   Vintage car with driver and dog (stuffed)
5)  Lady driving a steam roller
6)  Penny farthing rider

We spent a couple of hours at the museum and it was wonderful but it was so hot and we were ready to come home but another great trip there.
