Today was all about culture…..
# after yesterday’s challenge I can’t believe it started with more steps. This time only 300!!
# we went to Dambula Golden Cave Temple. We had to remove our shies outside the whole complex. It did feel strange to walk about barefoot outside!!
## It is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka, spread over five caves, which contain statues and paintings. 160 Buddha/ gods statues, three statues of Sri Lankan kings and four statues of gods and goddesses.
# then to a herbal and spices farm. We had a tour by a lovely man who was very knowledgeable. He had trained for 5 years as a doctor in herbal medicine. I suspect he also trained in sales as we walked out with a £100 bill for various pills and potions!!!
We both had a free facial and massage…The Rev had a back and I had a leg one. They were good. Now onto Kandy; a city everyone raves about. (Tomorrow we have a tour)
#then onto a gem store the usual tourist trap…we got caught again. This time for less money and I got a beautiful ring!!!!
#we were so tired and ready to go to our next hotel but no it was onto a cultural show. It was ok but the fire walking and eating in the hotel car park in the rain was so funny as the flames kept going out!!!
We got to Hotel no3 at 6 o’clock in time for a quick swim and dinner. The hotel is lovely, the staff very attentive and the views over Kandy are incredible.

A very full on day but so interesting.
