Portobello Beach Edinburgh Day 284

Without volunteers so many events, such as The Edinburgh Moonwalk or The Edinburgh Marathons simply would not happen. This volunteer has been up all night, on his birthday, helping ensure that the 4000 Moonwalkers made it safely around Edinburgh. He has a wife, two daughters and a granddaughter and explained that these were his additional reasons for helping to steward this year's event in aid of cancer research. He was a little disappointed that the entries were depleted this year but was very optimistic that the participants next year would be nearer to the 12000 that have walked this event in Edinburgh in the past. The walkers had a warm evening for it and the early sun on the beach was quickly losing ground to the banks of haar rolling in from the east. Well walked and well stewarded everyone.

All the excellent beach cleaning activities going on apace early this morning may not be rewarded by quite so many people as there were yesterday covering all the the sands from Seafield to Joppa Rocks! (Over two miles!)
