Hot @ Hot House

Friday and we are guiding at Hill of Tarvit Mansionhouse. It is hot and made warmer by the need to lower the humidity levels in the house.

There is a cooling breeze at this position because the fire escape door in the long gallery is open.

Today’s photograph is taken looking up to the painting ‘Fighting Cocks’.

The attraction on the frame is Melchior de Hondecoeter (1636 - 1695)

However, after consideration Rijksmuseum Senior Curator of Old Dutch and Flemish Painting, Fred G Meijer believes the painting is closer to the style of Adrian Van Utrecht (1599-1652) and Frans Snidjers (1579-1657).

Robin, our collections manager was very interested to have our opinion on the Grayson Perry exhibition.
