Green Rose Chafer

This beetle is called „golden“ in German (and Latin), and „green“ in English. It’s unlikely that an entire nation is colour blind. These beetles have a metallic sheen that looks golden from some angles. They eat pollen, nectar, and sometimes plant sap. It’s welcome to suck on the buddleja bush, as I need to cut it back anyway.

I spent this morning in the garden, pruning, weeding and filling up the compost bin. Later it got too hot for work outside, with 32 degrees C in the shade and about 40 in the sun. Unusual for September. But if the weather forecast is correct, this heatwave will end in two days,
