Inspired by spider’s silk

Apparently this kind of spider’s web is built by a sheet weaver. The morning dew today was highlighting dozens of them in the fields and hedgerows. There were the iconic circular ones as well but I had never before stopped to ponder how these ‘sheets’ are woven. How long, I wonder, does it take them to make such a dense patch of silken thread?
And now we are experiencing a terrible rainstorm. All their work will be destroyed. What a precarious existence.
