Castellated Gate Lodge

This is the entrance to the Southern Necropolis in the Gorbals area of Glasgow. The building is now sadly unused and derelict looking. It dates from 1848 and was designed by the renowned Glasgow architect Charles Wilson. He himself is buried in this cemetery as are two other architects, James Salmon and Alexander "Greek' Thomson. Sir Thomas Lipton, founder of Lipton Tea, who was born in the Gorbals, is buried there too (see extra)
Thanks to Marlieske for hosting Derelict Sunday.
