They're back!!!!

We went to Newtownards this morning, for a walk along the shore of Strangford Lough. Every September we have a huge influx of Light-bellied Brent Geese onto the Lough, and there were lots of geese there today. They start to arrive in early September, with a peak in early October. They look amazing when you see them en masse. They also have a very distinctive call. Some will move south, but lots will stay on the Lough, munching on the eel grass, until around March when they will head back towards Iceland for the breeding season.
