The Twomax Building

Dating from 1816, this B listed building started off life as a cotton spinning mill. The oldest surviving iron-framed mill in Glasgow, possibly Scotland, it was bought by Hugh McClure and Donald McIntosh (the two Macs) in 1920 and for the next 60 years it was a successful clothing factory. I knew it as a base for children's social work.
Presently it’s being converted for housing.
The Smokestack sculpture on top of the chimney was designed by Rita McGurn and sculpted by Adrian Lamb in 1994 as part of art in the Gorbals programme.
The weather changed quite dramaticaly from sunny in the top photo to cloudy in the bottom one.
