Snape Maltings

Backblip 8

A very good, very busy day!

Started off with breakfast at our hotel in Saxmundham, before MrM drove us to Snape Maltings. A lovely place, definitely on our list for a return visit. Could happily have spent the day there, but we made do with pottering by the river and looking round a couple of shops (could have spent a small fortune!)

Then on to Aldeburgh - another place we hope to go back to. After some shopping, and a very unhealthy lunch (coffee and ice cream!), we lay on the shingle beach for a while. Overcast, but very warm, it was blissful - like having a gentle, stony massage. Finally a quick look at the boats - it's the sort of creek-y area that MrM loves.

Bungay, another sleepy town, was the next stop, where we checked in to our accommodation. Not a studio as we'd thought, but a bungalow owned by a very sociable, elderly lady. Time for a stroll around before heading up to Poringland, near Norwich, for my nephew's wedding do, the event that 'sparked' our trip to Suffolk. Congratulations Mark and Tim! Lovely to meet up with some of my family, though conversation was difficult - there was a loud disco throughout the evening.

Back to Bungay for the night. Shattered!

(Extras: the river, Snape; shingle beach, Aldeburgh; boats, Aldeburgh; Bungay Castle.)
