Carding Machine

Visited New Lanark today. A mill town on the river Clyde founded in 1785 by David Dale who built the cotton mills and the housing for the workers. His son-in- law Robert Owen a utopian & philanthropist was instrumental in introducing better working & living conditions and schooling for the children. It’s now a UNESCO world heritage site & well worth a visit.
Abstract Thursday’s theme is close up so this is a detail of the carding machine for preparing the cotton / wool for spinning!
Thanks to Ingeborg for hosting.
